About Peridot
Peridot [‘pƐ-rI-dƆt] is a contemporary vocal duo, comprised of sopranos Rose Hegele and Stephanie Lamprea. Their name is inspired by the gem, Peridot – a lime green stone made from volcanic ash, symbolizing the renewal of nature and used in healing of the body and as protector from nightmares.
As a duo, Peridot seeks to use creative programming to highlight challenging and alternative methods to vocal chamber music, commission works from upcoming composers, and act as artist-citizens through the advocacy of aesthetics that are underrepresented in the community. Peridot has performed in residency at Clark University and has presented concerts at Gallery 263, the Lilypad Inman, Arts at the Armory, Spectrum, Cornelia Cafe, and in the virtual world. They have commissioned works by Stefanie Lubkowski, Aaron Jay Myers, Njabulo Phungula, and Dan Reifsteck, and they have worked extensively as a duo with composers Chaya Czernowin, Marti Epstein, and Julia Werntz. Their work is featured in False Tongues, an album by the metal band Niffin. In 2021 they were of three resident ensembles for the Young Women Composers Camp. It should be known that both Rose and Stephanie have perfect pitch (!) and relish the trickery and playful challenges of new works - with no pitch references required ;-) |
